30-Day Writing Challenge Day 8: A Fictional Story About Someone You Know

The Sliver Most of this was pulled from my own childhood memories but some are original. =D   "Hey Momma, look at this really neat piece of wood I found!" Hope said proudly holding up a slivery piece of wood.    "Wow, Hopie!" Momma said, "Just don't get a sliver."    "Okay," Hope said. "Ouch!" Hope said dropping the wood. Holding her finger she saw that a small sliver in her finger. "I don't think Momma saw," she thought "I don't want her to get out the tweezers!"    Oh, the tweezers! The worst tool ever, made to only give pain to small children when they get slivers. Well, at least that's what she thought they were for.    "I'll just not tell her. I'm sure the sliver will go away without having to dig it out." So Hope went on with her day forgetting all about the sliver.    The next morning Hope woke up and her finger didn't feel well at all. "Well, maybe if I ge

August 2018 Weekly Writing Challenge: Write the first chapter to a novel you have no intention of ever finishing.

Check out my sis's blog for her chapter! The Bolt    Detective Dave Burgman slowly pulled out his revolver and cautiously walked toward the warehouse. Arron Oscar, his partner, walked behind him, pistol in hand. Slowly he opened the door, once he had checked to see if it was safe he waved his hand toward Arron. Arron was soon at his side.    "You'll go to the next floor, I'll search down here," Dave told Arron. Arron nodded and walked toward the stairs. Dave looked around the large room, it was empty except for a few old crates.    A shot rang out from the next floor. "Arron!" Dave yelled, running toward the stairs. He ran up the stairs gun in hand. Carefully he walked into one of the rooms. A man stepped out. "Where is my partner?" Dave demanded.    "Oh, that scrawny kid?" the man mocked, "He's taking a little nap. But with him out of the way let me introduce myself, my name is Rex Alberts."    "What have

August 2018 Weekly Writing Challenge Week 3: Pick an object next to you, and write down what it is – let your stream of consciousness tell the rest of the story

Check out my sis's blog for her story! Carrot  Once upon a time, there was a beautiful garden with lovely plants. There lived a small family of carrots in a small wooden box. There a young innocent carrot was planted. Soon, his little green hair pushed through the earth and popped out for everyone to see him. His name was Felix.  He was quite happy with his life, he had friends all around him who often talked of their owners, the Crisses. Felix often wondered what they were like and what they did. He didn't see them that often other than tending to the garden and playing volleyball in the yard. He often wondered why he was in this garden. He did love his family and friends, but why did the Crisses have him there?  Months passed and the summer heat poured down. Felix all the other plants grew up and are going to be picked soon.  One day Lydia (one of the Criss girls) came out to the garden. This was normal, every day she would pull out any weeds and give them all fresh dr

Tips for Painting Your Nails

Image
For a while now I've been playing around with nail polish. It's super cute and I love to wear it especially when I'm wearing a boring outfit.  But sometimes it can be a pain to paint your nails, so here are some tips that have helped me and hopefully help you! 1. Choosing the nail polish . I really don't have a favorite brand I just go by the thickness, color and then, of course, the price. For clear or clear with sparkles, it really doesn't matter. If you wanted it to stay longer go for a more expensive brand, but I get mine from the dollar tree and it last about a week, so that's great! For color, I would say if it's a darker color such as black, blue, and even red can be thicker. For lighter colors, try to go a little thinner. 2. Use a top and bottom coat . Using a bottom coat will protect your nails if your using color. If you paint your nails a lot you might notice your nails having a gross yellow or greenish tint. That's just what happens,

August 2018 Weekly Writing Challenge Week 2: Go to your nearest book. Turn to page 51. Find the first line on the last paragraph on that page. Use that line to start your scene.

Go check out my sis's blog for her scene! Only those who walk will find out. -Choosing Forgiveness by Nacy Leigh DeMoss  "'Only those who walk will find out'. I've got nothing!" Dina cried, "I'm trying but it's just not working!" she pushed her laptop away and flopped on her bed.  "Are you okay?" her older sister Emma said, opening the door.  "No! I'm not." She told Emma. "I have to send in this story tomorrow and I don't even know what to write about!"  "Well, what's it about?" Emma asked trying to cheer her up sitting on the bed.  "Basically I have to write a scene starting with the line 'Only those who walk will find out'. Got any ideas?" She rolled over facing the wall.  "That sound like a great line. It could start so many interesting stories."  "Yeah, and I can't think of any," she mumbled back.  "Well, how about a st

5 Back to School Outfits

Image
Hello everyone! Today, since school is soon to be in, I thought it would be a great idea if I showed you five back to school outfits! I tried to mix it up with some more fall weather clothing and some for warmer weather so everyone can find an idea in here! For outfit #1 I kept it simple and sweet. I started with my favorite jean skirt and added my Star Labs shirt (you could use any graphic tee) tucking the front.  Then I just added some gray converse  And this super cute stacked seahawks bracelet. I'm wearing the last bun on my post How To Do a Perfect Bun . On a more summery note, grab your favorite summer button up and just add a jean skirt. I finished this look with some white flip-flops. And who could forget these super cute glasses? Now for this little more sporty outfit. I wore this blue and white striped sweater and tied a bright pink jacket around my waist for a little pop. And I'm wearing the converse from before. Next, I w

Writer's Block?

Image
I was sitting at the computer trying to write a story for my 30-Day Writing Challenge. I was trying my hardest to write but just losing all my creativity and inspiration.  It can be so hard to write when you have writer's block or just when you can't focus on what you're writing. I get it! I try to write every day but for the last week, my mind just refuses to write what I want it too! And also I really can't (or don't want to) write when I don't have a source of inspiration.  Here are some ideas to combat writer's block and hopefully help you! 1. Make it fun. Currently, I am listening to super fun pop music. It helps me write faster and also I don't contradict myself as much (not sure why). It's so fun to dance along and somehow it helps me get ideas that otherwise I wouldn't have thought of. You could also do something really simple like eat or drink something good while writing. It sounds kinda dumb but it just helps to make it more fu

August 2018 Writing Challenge Week 1: Use the Lyrics of Your Favorite Song and Write a Short Story.

Check out my sister's blog for her story. =) Eye of the Storm  "Honey, I'm home," Evelyn called opening the door after several hours shopping.  "Hey, Babe," her husband Peter said kissing her. "How was Christmas shopping with your sisters?"   "Oh, I never get tired of being with them! Especially around the holidays!" she said putting some of the food she got away. "Oh, they invited us to open Christmas gifts at their house."  "I can't wait!" he replied.  "Babe?" Peter said walking into the kitchen still a little sleepy.  "Yah," Evelyn replied, "Oh, Merry Christmas, my love! I made your favorite breakfast!"   "Well, you are the best wife a man could ask for!"  "Darling, I have some news!" she said barely containing her excitement. "You're going to a daddy!"   "What! Babe, that wonderful!" he said giving her a big hug.

Scrunchie Hairstyles

Image
Hey girls! I haven't done a hair post in a while and so I thought it was about time I did scrunchie hairstyles! I know I said I was going to make hairstyle videos but I got a little camera shy. 😏 But I don't worry those will be coming! (Probably)  You might remember a couple months ago me saying that I was going to make this post and then never did. Well, I'm finally coming through with seven adorable and easy hairstyles!  For the first one, we're going to make a small dutch braid. So, start with a very small section and braid that back. When your braiding, keep the braid between your temples and when you bring in hair bring in very small pieces. Then put your hair into a pony and wrap it into a bun. Then take the scrunchie and just wrap it around your bun, pinning down any flyaways. And you're done! This one's so cute and if you don't feel like doing the braid, don't! This would still look super cute! For the next hai

30-Day Writing Challenge Day 10: Describe a Famous Painting

Image
I typed in famous paintings and this was on the list. Even though I've never seen nor heard of it I think it's so pretty and beautiful! I think the perfect painting to describe. Water Lillies by Claude Monet  I can imagine walking across the bridge and gazing over the peaceful stream. Breathing in the fresh scent of lilies and marveling over their beauty. The breeze gently blows ruffling the trees overhead. I lay against the rail taking in all this beauty.

Don't Waste Your Time in the Summer!

It can be easy in the summer to just chill out cause there's no school and summer's just a relaxing time! But wasting your time won't get you anywhere, so today here are some things that I've tried and are true for keeping you busy in the summer. 1. Help Around the House . For a time even in the school year, I had nothing to do! I seriously spent all day watching The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. It was actually miserable so I decided to stop constantly watching shows and help with chores around the house. I clean the bathrooms, feed the cat and clean her litter box, do dishes, fold laundry, and now I'm making meals twice a week. It becomes less of a job and more just apart of my routine. And it's also great because I have to finish all these chores (depending on the day) to get on the computer so it makes me that much more excited to watch a youtube movie than it did before! 2. Start a Hobby . I try to learn as many skills as I can while I'm young and
